This year in science we will always be linking the science we are learning to the “real world” while covering all the science standards. All the activities we will cover in this unit will be related to hurricanes (while also learning about matter, energy, force & motion, and processes that shape the earth – maybe a little earth and space science too). Here are some interesting places on-line to go to for more information about some of the activities in this unit:
- The Hurricane books read in class – donated by Florida Emergency Management
- Songs about Clouds
- The Franklin Institute
- Hurricane Strike – Interactive website
- NASA Kids Science News (K-2) – Measuring Weather
- NASA Kids Science News (K-2) – CLOUDS
- Weather Whiz Kids – information and GAMES
- NASA’s S’COOL program (cloud identification tutorial)
- GLOBE program Cloud Quiz
- JETSTREAM: An Online Weather School (print a certificate after each section)
- NASA Kids Science News (3-5) – Lightning
- Interactive Hurricane Tracker (MSNBC)
- Historical Hurricane Tracks
